Delmas downs Bethal Bears

Delmas Cricket Club’s captain, Tyrone Greyling, was the man of the match.

The Delmas Cricket Club and Bethal Bears Old Boys played a game on the home field at Delmas Hoërskool on February 23.

Delmas won the flip and decided to bowl first. Delmas player Alex Gamble opened the bowling, taking two wickets at the end of the game. Captain Tyrone Greyling took four wickets. Opening batsman Gerhard Schoeman ended the game 29 not out.

“Schoeman was on his feet the entire 28.4 deliveries,” said René Schoeman, the media liaison for the Delmas Cricket Club.

The Bethal Bears Old Boys scored 110 runs and were all out after 25.4 overs.

“The Bethal teams’ star and fast bowler, Logan Schutte, kept the Delmas team on their toes,” Schoeman added.

Schutte took two wickets for 14 runs. Kobus Naudé from Delmas managed 20 runs off 30 balls. Delmas won the game by three wickets, with 112 runs for seven. The Delmas captain, Tyrone Greyling, was the man of the match.

“The Delmas cricket Club thanks the team from Bethal for the day’s game, one of the best thus far this season,” Schoeman added.

The Delmas team will compete in the Highveld Promotion League against Middelburg on the Bethal Bears Old Boys’ field on March 2.

The Delmas Cricket Club’s exercise times are Tuesdays and Fridays from 16:00 to 19:00 at the Hoërskool Delmas nets, with the entrance at the sports gate on Samuel Road.
