Bronkhorstspruit SAPS Safety awareness programme benefits rural community
“The Police in Bronkhorstspruit place a high premium on protecting farms and averting farm attacks.”
A programme to raise awareness of safety on farms and smallholdings was conducted on February 20.
Residents of Forfar, Firolaz and the Vaalbank areas were visited by the Bronkhorstspruit police in conjunction with the rural safety coordinator, various sector commanders, Department of Safety ambassadors and crime prevention wardens.
“The police and stakeholders visited various farms and smallholdings to increase awareness of safety,” said Constable Cathrine Ramovha, corporate communications officer for the Bronkhorstspruit police.
“The group handed out information pamphlets on topics such as assault, robberies, stock theft, house break-in as well as GBV.”
According to Ramovha, farmers were urged to strengthen their security and to keep a positive relationship with the police.
“The police in Bronkhorstspruit place a high premium on protecting farms and averting farm attacks. Farmers were promised additional police patrols in the area by the police.
“Farmers expressed their gratitude and welcomed the visit by the local police and pledged to cooperate with them,” Ramovha concluded.
