Grootdraai Dam remains steady around 102%

Other dams in Gert Sibande recorded mixed results, with the district average increasing from 99.2% to 100.2%.

The Department of Water and Sanitation released its weekly state of reservoirs report on March 12, indicating that Grootdraai Dam has increased from 102.0% to 102.4%.

According to the statement, other dams in Gert Sibande recorded mixed results, with the district average increasing from 99.2% to 100.2%.

Vygeboom Dam remained stable at 100.9%.

Several dams including Westoe Dam and Heyshope Dam suffered declines from 101.4% to 99.8% and 101% to 100.9% respectively.

Nooitgedacht Dam declined from 102.7% to 100%. Jericho Dam increased from 85.2% to 92.0%, while Morgenstond Dam increased from 84.5% to 93.8%.

The report states that the average dam levels in Mpumalanga saw an increase from 98.6% to 99.2%

“The DWS continues to urge citizens to use water wisely and sparingly. South Africa is among the 30 driest nations in the world,” said Themba Khoza, spokesperson for the DWS.

Due to the rapidly approaching dry season, the DWS urges residents to use water sustainably.
