Foundation in Bethal help restore dignity to young girls and women

The Indawo Yosizo Foundation handed sanitary pads to young girls and women at seven different schools in eMzinoni and Bethal on April 9.

The Indawo Yosizo Foundation, custodians of humility and kindness, distributed 700 sanitary pads to young girls and women at schools in eMzinoni and Bethal.

The sanitary pads were distributed to young girls and women at Sakhisizwe Primary School, AD Nkosi MST Academy, Vukanini Combined School, Thandanani Primary School, Lamlile Primary School, MD Coovadia Combined School and Enkundleni Combined School.

“We are faced with circumstances where the dignity of those who are underprivileged are under attack. In attempts to dismantle the attack, we aim to create a culture of protecting the dignity of young women and all other marginalised groups,” said Zanele Gwebu, director of the NPO Indawo Yosizo Foundation.

She said that fighting period poverty doesn’t mean making sure that everyone who needs a pad gets one but also fighting against stigmas and circumstances that have caused it.

“The first step in restoring one’s dignity is getting young girls and women to realise their worth,” Gwebu said.

The sanitary drive was supported by Enpower Machite.
