Tshwane tackles Bronkies’ water plant
The City of Tshwane will dispatch water tankers to the various areas when reservoirs run dry. Residents with boreholes are also offering access to the community.
The refurbishment of Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant is well underway. Head of Region 7, Jabu Mabona, said on Tuesday they removed the old and faulty operation panels.
The new panels to be installed on high-lift motors are a vital upgrade to improve water distribution efficiency.
He said the team was making good progress.
Bronkhorstspruit residents and those from surrounding areas received a warning about an 11-day water interruption (from May 5 to 16) while the refurbishment was being done.

The City of Tshwane will dispatch water tankers to the various areas when reservoirs run dry. Residents with boreholes are also offering access to the community.
This is the second step in addressing the deteriorating water supply infrastructure in Bronkhorstspruit.
“According to feedback from the bulk section, we already repaired two pumps in the raw water plant, and these are operational, while we ordered a third standby pump,” said Mabona.
This will result in more efficient abstraction of river water and faster pumping to the treatment plant.
