The academy U13 team emerged victorious, clinching the title after a dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout win against London Zone 14 FC.
Leandra-born international soccer star Wesley Ntshangase founded the I Promise Soccer Academy to nurture and develop young soccer talent in the local community. Speaking at the tournament, Ntshangase emphasised his long-term vision of the event.
“In Europe, players must be versatile, able to perform on mini fields, with small goals, and on standard soccer pitches. This approach sharpens soccer intelligence and prepares players for the modern game,” he explained.
Ntshangase said the tournament will continue until May 18, offering more chances to identify promising talent.
“Our goal is not just to find future stars, but also to keep young people off the streets and away from drugs. This is about building a better future through sport,” said Ntshangase.
