Lekwa FPA warns against fire making as dry season approaches

The Lekwa Fire Protection Association (FPA) have announced the 2025 Burning Prohibitions. Due to the upcoming dry season, the FPA is taking preventative measures to ensure fire safety.
Fires will be prohibited from June 1 up until October 31.
“Any person who makes fire in the open air or adds fuel to an existing fire may face legal action,” Explained Frans Awie Vermaak, Chairperson and FPA Manager.
Fires may be made in areas with designated fire pits, such as demarcated picnic and camping areas. Fires may be made in residential food stands strictly to prepare food and for initiation school purposes.
No fires will be permitted from June 1 without a proper burning permit.
