More than two dozen goats are currently held in the pinfold of a Bronkhorstspruit auction yard while police search for their rightful owner.

A Limpopo police officer alerted the local stock theft unit about thieves known only as Max Tetla and Koeloe, who drove a red Legend 45 bakkie and a white NP200. They were reportedly transporting possibly stolen goats to the Karoo-Osch Livestock Auction in Bronkhorstspruit.

Police visited the auction on June 1, pand confirmed the suspects had brought 29 goats to sell. According to the auction house’s records, the goats were booked under the names Peter Kgopane and Lucas Mammala.

However, the suspects and their vehicles were nowhere to be found. None of the goats have tattoos, and no one knows where the animals were transported from.

A stock theft inquiry was opened. Anyone with information, can contact Captain Jan Labuschagne at the Cullinan Stock Theft Unit on 082 822 7081.
