Delmas gymnasts shine as club hosts first local competition

The Delmas Gymnastics Club hosted its first competition, with support from top sporting officials and local clubs, celebrating young talent and community spirit.

The Delmas Gymnastics Club hosted its first competition on June 14.

The event was made even more special by the presence of Linda Zwane, who not only serves as the president of the Mpumalanga Sports Confederation but is also a board member of SASCOC (the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee) and vice president of the South African Football Association.

Zwane had the honour of awarding medals to the gymnasts at the end of the competition. The judges hailed from Witbank, Secunda, Springs, Benoni and Delmas, bringing their expertise to the day’s events.

In a show of support for local sport, five members of the Tenshinkan Karate Club also attended to cheer on the gymnasts.

“Overall, the day was a huge success. I’d thank all the judges, Mr Zwane, the parents, spectators, and of course, our talented gymnasts for a fantastic display of local talent,” said Florence Cindi, the owner and coach of the Delmas Gymnastics Club.
