Lanie Nel wins men’s Sasol Secunda Bowls Club singles

He beat Marius Labuschagne 21 - 8 in the Sasol Secunda Bowl Club men’s singles competition played from August 2 to August 3.

Bowls enthusiasts gathered at the Sasol Secunda Bowls Club for the men’s singles competition held from August 2 to 3. Twenty players competed in the tournament, which was structured into four sections of five players each.

The top players from each section advanced to the semi-finals and finals, held on August 3. Lanie Nel emerged as the overall winner, claiming the men’s singles trophy after defeating Marius Labuschagne with a commanding score of 21–8.

In the third-place playoff, Raynando Bodenstein secured victory against Louis van der Merwe, winning 21–12. Nel has also recently made waves on the provincial scene.

He competed in the Mpumalanga Masters Open Singles in Nelspruit, where he was selected as one of the top eight players in the province and went on to place second overall.
