Bethal police seek family of deceased man
Zikode Petrus Zwane, a homeless man, was found dead near Damwal Street in Bethal on June 29.
Police are appealing for information that could help trace the family of Zikode Petrus Zwane (68), who was found dead on June 29.
His body is being kept at the Bethal government mortuary.
According to Sergeant Thomas Mogadime, Bethal police spokesperson, officers responded to reports of a homeless man lying motionless near Damwal Street.
Bethal Emergency Medical Services practitioner Nompilo Mohale declared Zwane dead at the scene. His body was later transported to the mortuary by forensic pathologist Nomasonto Nkumane.
The investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer André Henn, worked with the Department of Home Affairs to establish the man’s identity.
Fingerprints taken from Zwane’s right hand confirmed his details, showing he was born on 16 May 1957.
Police are urging anyone with information that could help locate Zwane’s family to contact Detective Henn on 060 802 2876, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or submit information via the MYSAPSAPP.
