SAPS find man dead in car in eMbalenhle
An inquest docket has been opened to determine the cause of death.
A man was found dead inside his car near the old, demolished Sasol mine shaft in eMbalenhle’s Ext 22 on November 10.
According to eMbalenhle police spokesperson Constable Busi Mthethwa, a community member rushed to the police station earlier that day to report a suspicious car he had seen standing in the veld since November 9.
Mthethwa said the passerby initially assumed the man in the car was spending time with his girlfriend. However, when he noticed the car in the same spot the following day, he became concerned and alerted the police.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers saw a man lying inside the vehicle. They knocked on the windows but received no response, so they forced open the car and found the man unresponsive.
Medical personnel were called to the scene and declared the man dead. While searching the vehicle, officers found a half container of brake fluid near the seat of the deceased.
An inquest docket has been opened to determine the cause of death. Mthethwa confirmed that the deceased’s family has since been identified and notified of his passing.
