Evander Regional Court to sentence four men for gang-rape
They were found guilty of kidnapping and repeatedly raping a sex worker from Kinross.

The Evander Regional Court has on December 2 postponed the sentencing of Alford Magubane, Nkosinathi Manana, Vusi Nhlapho and Edward Ntamane, who were found guilty of kidnapping and raping a sex worker.
It was reported that the four in 2019 went to Kinross in the spot where sex workers conduct their business near a filling station, and on their arrival, two of the accused forcefully grabbed a sex worker while one of them pointed a knife at her. They forcefully put her in their car before speeding off.
It was also reported that the suspects drove with the sex worker to the open field in Kinross, where they gang raped her. They then drove with her to Secunda open field, where they repeatedly raped her and drove with her to eMbalenhle, where they put her in one of the suspect’s girlfriend’s shacks to rape her.
It was reported that a security guard at the filling station, where the sex worker was kidnapped, and a friend of the sex worker, went to Kinross police station to report the incident, as they had the suspect’s vehicle registration number.
The vehicle was circulated and was found to belong to one of the suspects’ friends. When the police approached him, he told them that on the day of the incident, he had left his car with one of the suspects.
The police were able to trace the victim and found her half-naked coming out of the shack where the suspects had left her after the assault. They were denied bail. The case was postponed to January 22 for a presentencing report and possible sentencing.
