Unplanned power interruption woes continue for third day in parts of Secunda

Govan Mbeki Municipality says teams are on-site locating an underground fault affecting power supply in the Secunda CBD, with restoration prioritised.

Govan Mbeki Municipality (GMM) has provide an update to residents and businesses in the Secunda CBD and immediate surroundings regarding the current power outage.

Affected Areas:
– RS1, RS1B, RS2, and RS9

“Our technical teams are currently on-site and remain actively engaged in cable fault location. Due to the complexity of the underground network, the specialised team is working to pinpoint the exact location of the failure,” said Donald Green, spokesperson for GMM.

He said that repair works will commence immediately once the fault has been successfully located.

“We are prioritising the restoration of these critical supply lines to minimize further disruption to the CBD,” said Green.

Customers are strictly advised to treat all electrical installations as live at all times, as power may be restored without further warning. To protect your equipment, please switch off non-essential appliances until the supply is stable.

“We sincerely apologize for the continued inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our teams work to resolve this technical failure,” concluded Green.
