Deputy Minister visits special school in eMbalenhle

The visit to Basizeni Special School formed part of the government's national Back-to-School programme.

Deputy Minister of Correctional Services, Lindiwe Ntshalintshali on January 14, joined teachers, learners, and parents at Basizeni Special School in eMbalenhle to mark the start of the 2026 academic year.

The visit formed part of the national Back-to-School Programme, which aims to monitor school readiness and support teaching and learning across the country.

Addressing learners, Ntshalintshali encouraged them to dream big, emphasising that their disabilities should never define or limit their potential and ambitions.

She highlighted that education remains a powerful tool for unlocking opportunities and building brighter futures. As part of her visit, Ntshalintshali also handed over vegetables to support the school’s feeding scheme.

She further pledged to return to the school to provide additional assistance in strengthening the feeding programme.
