‘Not from us’ says IEC over fake jobs

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) cautions the public after fraudulent job offers claiming to be from the Commission surfaced on TikTok and other platforms.

The IEC has issued a warning to job seekers after multiple reports of fake job offers circulating on social media, particularly TikTok.

The fraudulent messages and links direct applicants to e-recruitment portals that are not affiliated with the official IEC website. Scammers are using these fake advertisements to deceive job seekers into sharing personal information or paying fees.

The IEC emphasises that all legitimate job opportunities are only posted on the official website: elections.org.za. The commission does not recruit through TikTok, WhatsApp, unofficial websites, or random Facebook ads.

“Job seekers must remain vigilant and only apply through our official channels. Protect yourself and others by reporting suspicious posts,” the IEC said in a statement.

The commission urges the public to share this warning widely to prevent others from falling victim to recruitment scams.
