Suspects nabbed for robbery of Eskom Zeus substation at Charl Cilliers

A gang of about seven armed men entered the Eskom Zeus Substation premises at Charl Cilliers and held the security guards at gunpoint on August 14.
According to a statement by the Mpumalanga Police Commissioner, Lieut-Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, farm patrol and members of Modise POLSEC were alerted who then notified the police.
The three entities worked together and arrested three of the suspects. They are between the ages of 28 and 34.
The other gang-members fled.
The police said the investigating team is currently at the scene and developments will be shared accordingly with the public.
The three suspects are expected to appear at the Secunda Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of business robbery.
Police cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges against the suspects as the probe continues.

Lieut-Gen Manamela has further commended the collaborative effort by the entities which led to this arrest and has promised that the other suspects will be located soon and brought to book.
