Robbers try to hide in shop ceiling in Leandra to no avail
Five men were arrested, the stolen money recovered and three guns seized.
Hiding in the roof of the shop you had just robbed, was not a good escape plan for three armed robbers in Leandra today, October 15.
They first had to endure teargas and then one was shot in the hand when he tried to shoot his captor.
The three were part of a 5-man gang set on robbing a Chinese shop in Leandra.
An employee in the store pressed a panic button when the gunmen were holding up the workers and a customer at about 16:30.
According to a member of the MavCorp High Risk team, the police and Leandra CPF swiftly reacted.
“The police called me for back up and when I arrived, they had already apprehended two suspects,” he said.
The three remaining suspects climbed into the space between the roof and the store’s ceiling.
When teargas did not smoke out the culprits the police and MavCorp officer moved into the shop to go find them.
The officer caugt the three and they were arrested.
The stolen goods and money were recovered and three guns were seized.
