Former Sakhile cop gets life in prison
He kidnapped and raped a teen in 2020 and the murder of his girlfriend in 2021.
Tsepo Sekgoto (28) was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend and the kidnapping and rape of a 17-year-old girl.
The Delmas High Court meted out the sentence on Friday, November 4.
Sekgoto, popularly known as #JESU, kidnapped and repeatedly raped the teenager (she was 17 at the time) in his rental house in 2020.
The victim escaped and a case was opened.
While Sekgoto was out on bail on this charge, he murdered his girlfriend (30) in the same house.
The High Court sentenced Sekgoto to life imprisonment for the rape, five years for kidnapping, and 20 years for the murder.
The sentences will run concurrently.
Detective Sergeant Nomfenge from Sakhile secured the conviction.
