Police recover hijacked car at Val
The suspects will appear in the Standerton Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, April 11.

The police in Val arrested two suspects (aged 32 and 34) yesterday, April 7 and recovered a VW Polo which was reportedly hijacked in Gauteng.
They also recovered a firearm.
According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, spokesman for the police in Mpumalanga, the SAPS received a tipoff regarding a suspicious vehicle which was seen by residents.

Police followed the information which led them to a certain house at Haartebeeskuil in Val where they found the two suspects and the VW Polo with Gauteng registration number plates.
On further investigation police discovered that the vehicle was reportedly hijacked this month (April 2023) at a place called Tsakane in Gauteng.
Upon further search police also found a pistol in the possession of the two men. It was during this time when the pair was arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property (in reference to the vehicle) as well as for possession of a firearm.
“The firearm will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether it was used in the commission of crime elsewhere,” said Mohlala.
“At this stage police cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges against the suspects as the probe continues.
“The two are expected to appear at the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 11 facing the said charges.”
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has commended the sterling work done by both the public who provided information as well as the swift response by the SAPS members which led to the recovery of the hijacked car and discovery of the firearm.
