Hawks nab suspected drug dealer in eMbalenhle
The team seized 245 pieces of rock cocaine valued at about R10 000.
A 25-year-old man was arrested in eMbalenhle on December 4 for dealing in drugs.
According to the provincial spokesperson for the Hawks in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant-Colonel Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi, the police received information about a drug dealer who was spotted waiting at eMbalenhle, for his delivery of drugs from a taxi driving from Gauteng.
A team comprising of Secunda-based Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Secunda Crime Intelligence and Secunda Dog Unit (K9), under the Project Danelle, operationalised the information.
The information was liaised with Secunda K9 unit, and the suspect was intercepted immediately upon receiving the drugs.
The team seized 245 pieces of rock cocaine valued at about R10 000.
The man was arrested, charged and appeared in court on December 5.
The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Gerber applauded the multidisciplinary intelligence driven operation, which led to the arrest of the target, aiming to dismantle the syndicate group.
The General said: “through the joint effort of security agencies and the public, we shall overcome the scourge of narcotics which is destroying the future of our beautiful country.”
