eMzinoni police opens case against owner of dogs

Siyabonga Dlamini (28) was attacked by his neighbour’s three dogs on January 6.

The eMzinoni police spokesperson, Sergeant Cynthia Mtsweni, said a case of failure to keep vicious dogs in the owner’s property was opened after Siyabonga Dlamini (28) was attacked by his neighbour’s three dogs on January 6.

Mtsweni said the case is under investigation.

Dlamini was walking to his room when the neighbour’s three power-breed dogs, identified as pitbull terriers, stormed him.

His mother, Gabisile Mahlangu, and his sister saved him from the attack.

Dlamini sustained numerous bites, especially to his face, head, hands and arms.

He was rushed to the Bethal Hospital where his wounds were cleaned and treated. The young man was released the next day.

Mtsweni confirmed that the dogs were taken away by the SPCA.
