DCS jobs are not for sale

According to Siphiwe Mahlangu, communications manager for the DCS Bethal Management Area, scammers attempt to lure vulnerable citizens into their traps by selling appointment letters and requesting payment as a guarantee to secure jobs within the department.

Scammers are taking advantage of the influx of unemployed 2024 matriculants by enticing them with employment opportunities at a price.

The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) released a media statement warning new job seekers against this scam.

According to Siphiwe Mahlangu, communications manager for the DCS Bethal Management Area, scammers attempt to lure vulnerable citizens into their traps by selling appointment letters and requesting payment as a guarantee to secure jobs within the department.

According to the statement, the DCS does not require payment upon employment application.

The DCS also warned employment opportunities within the DCS are advertised only in the mainstream media and on the DCS website.

Anyone posing as a consultant for the department on media platforms is guilty of a criminal offence.

“Perpetrators will face the full force of the law,” added Mahlangu.

Mahlangu urged any member of the public who comes across these scams to report it to the anti-corruption hotline at 0800 701 701.
