The operation focused on enforcing immigration laws, inspecting undocumented foreign nationals and carrying out crime-prevention activities in the Bethal area.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Thomas Mogadime, the arrested individuals were allegedly found to be in contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa, including violations of visa conditions.
Home Affairs officials explained that visa-condition violations may include offences such as working while holding a visitor or tourist visa, or remaining in the country beyond the authorised expiry date of a visa or permit.
“We will continue working with the Department of Home Affairs and other stakeholders to combat crime and prevent criminal activities that threaten the safety of communities,” said Mogadime.
