Lekwa council elects new mayor

The Lekwa Local Municipality held a special council meeting On November 5, following the council’s passing of the motion of no confidence against former Executive Mayor, Louis Thabethe and former speaker, Sipho Majozi on October 31.
Council elected Sifiso Mngomezulu as Executive Mayor and Dumisani Msibi as speaker for the council.
“I wish to remind councillors that we are here for service delivery and we should be united as political parties towards rendering those services in our community,” said Msibi.
Newly elected Mayor Mngomezulu assured all stakeholders that the transition of office was handled smoothly.
