Enpower Machite plants a legacy at Thandanani Service Centre in eMzinoni on Mandela Day
The message brought across for this year’s celebration was to encourage the planting of fruits, vegetables, and indigenous trees, as well as to draw attention to the links between food security and climate change.
Enpower Machite employees and their project directors dedicated 67 minutes for Mandela Day by planting vegetable seedlings at the Thandanani Service Centre in eMzinoni on July 26.
The project was made possible with the help of the Indawo Yosizo Foundation, which assisted Enpower Machite in planting vegetables at the centre.
The message brought across for this year’s celebration was to encourage the planting of fruits, vegetables, and indigenous trees, as well as to draw attention to the links between food security and climate change.
With the motto, “do what you can, with what you have, where you are,” the emphasis is on highlighting the plight of food security and climate change.
Enpower Machite demonstrated its dedication to the initiative by supporting the centre to plant and grow fresh cost-effective produce.
This will allow the centre to have access to food and also promote community gardening.
Through this effort, Enpower Machite encourages community planting and growing as a means of contributing to the environment and addressing the challenge of climate change.
With the assistance of the Indawo Yosizo Foundation, which is doing wonderful things for the Bethal and eMzinoni communities, we are going to teach the members of the centre how to plant and grow their own food, and this will be an ongoing engagement with this centre.
