Bingo, says SAVF in Standerton

The SAVF hosted a bingo-evening at the Lions club house on Friday, July 29.
Their team was ready to welcome the community before the time, while Malcolm Johnstone made sure that people were served something to drink.
Tim Cochrane took charge of the bingo calling.
Chicken burgers, coffee and tea were on sale, many prizes were won and fun was had by all.
The SAVF is a non-profit organisation and most services rendered to the communities are free of charge.
The government subsidises partially on the operational budget, including salaries and administrative expenses, but with regard to the continuous increase in operational costs, the impact of the deficit is
devastating on the office’s service delivery.
To cover the shortfall of the office’s expenditures, the organisation is dependent on donations, sponsors and fundraising events.
The SAVF said income-generating projects are for the benefit and upliftment of the community and not just the organisation as such.
They thanked the Lions Club for hosting the event, Jean Robertson and all of the volunteers who assisted especially, as well as the individuals and local businesses that sponsored prizes.
