Community and furry friends enjoy dog walk in Secunda
Join Neon Night Walk in early October.
The animal welfare organisation, Because Dogs & Co, hosted their first frisky winter doggy walk at the Secunda Parkrun venue on Saturday, August 13.
The organiser, Chantel Vorster, said it was a successful event and the community and their furry friends enjoyed it.
Because Dogs also used this opportunity to launch the yellow ribbon or bandana dog project.
This project aims to inform the community that not all dog owners like their dogs to be petted.
Thus, if a dog is wearing a yellow ribbon, it means that the dog needs space because he is in recovery, in season, old or tired, scared, not well, insecure, in training, wants to be left alone, needs time to move out of the way or is not animal or people friendly.
Vorster said they plan to erect sign boards in the area around the Secunda Duck Pond to inform the community what the yellow ribbons are about.
She thanked all the sponsors of the day and everyone who supported them.
She said the community must keep an eye open for the upcoming Neon Night Walk that will take place in early October, after the annual Sasol shutdown.
