Nesher holds career day with local police and fire brigade

“The inside of the fire truck and the safety around a fire was very popular amongst the learners.”

The Nesher Private School situated in Eloff held a fun and entertaining career day for the learners.

As the school presented their career day on Friday, August 19, they had some important information for the youngsters but also made it a fun day.

The Sundra Police, as well as the Victor Khanye Fire Department from Delmas visited the school.

“It was such a highlight for the learners and excitement ran high,” said Liza Vermaak, a teacher at Nesher.

The police officers demonstrated how offenders are handcuffed, and how it looks inside the back of a police van.

Numbers to dial in case of an emergency as well as child safety and so much more were on the agenda for the day.

The procedure on how to put out a fire was demonstrated by the firefighters. The working of the ‘jaws of life’ also received a lot of attention. The learners were furthermore informed about the working of other fire fighting equipment.

“The inside of the fire truck and the safety around a fire was very popular amongst the learners,” Vermaak added.

“The informative information about different career paths and the importance and motivation of choosing wisely that they shared with our learners made a valuable contribution towards their career choices in future.”

“We thank both departments and their officers for taking time out of their busy schedules to educate our learners,” Vermaak concluded.
