Sasol 1 Secunda tops the log in the Gert Sibande Premier Cricket League
Sasol 1’s opening bowlers dominated proceedings, putting Sasol 2’s batsmen under a lot of pressure.
Sasol 1 Secunda played against Sasol 2 Bulldogs on January 29 in the Gert Sibande Premier League. Sasol 1 won the toss and elected to bat first.
Sasol 2 had a great start with the ball, taking three quick wickets for only 17 runs.
Stuart Campbell and Pieter Vrolijk stabilised the innings for Sasol 1 with a 46-run partnership before Vrolijk was dismissed for 43.
The middle and lower order put in the hard work to reach a competitive total of 225 all out in 46 overs.
Campbell scored 64, while Antonie van Jaarsveld scored 35. Michael Hobkirk was Sasol 2’s best bowler, with 4/34 in his 10 overs.

Dylan Niemand fought hard with a well-played 37 before being dismissed off the bowling of Nicus Boshoff.
Sasol 2 was eventually bowled out for 87.
This is the highest total so far against Sasol 1 this season. Boshoff took 4/29 in his 10 overs, while Captain George Louw took 3/37.
Sasol 1 remains top of the log with 24 points after six rounds, followed by Standerton on 19.
In other matches, Sasol 3 Kinross went down with 4 wickets against Standerton 2 in the promotion league, while the Sasol Women’s team went down to Royal Strikers from Middleburg.
