Attend meeting about CCTV cameras in Standerton

The meeting is scheduled for February 15 at 18:00 at the Standerton Golf Club.

Jannie Kasselman posted on a WhatsApp-group today, February 14, that security within Standerton and more specifically the CBD has been deteriorating for some time.

According to Kasselman, it is partly to blame at the absence of effective monitored and central CCTV-systems through which offenders can be identified and their movements monitored to empower authorities to react thereto with sufficient evidence.

“An effective-monitored CCTV-system will also have a huge role to play in crime prevention as it might be monitored by a central control room in town and assisted by reaction forces of local security companies,” he said.

According to him, similar systems have been successfully installed in various towns and is already having a marked effect in lowering crime within towns such as Piet Retief.

Lekwa Ratepayers Association has reached out to suppliers of such fully integrated systems and would like to set up a meeting between one such supplier and interested business people and residents of Standerton, who would like to be part of such a project.

Kasselman also said business premises against which the CCTV-equipment can be installed, are especially needed, but interested parties to help fund such an undertaking are also required.

The meeting is scheduled for February 15 at 18:00 at the Standerton Golf Club.
