The police in eMbalenhle have opened a case of driving a vehicle without the owner's consent after the disappearance of an R1.8m vehicle.

The police in eMbalenhle have opened a case of driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent after the disappearance of an R1.8m vehicle.

According to eMbalenhle police spokesperson, Constable Busi Mthethwa, the complainant alleges that he was at Komatipoort when a suspect known to the complainant asked to borrow his car to go to the nearest garage.

The complainant gave his permission.

Mthethwa said the owner waited a long time for his car to be returned. He also attempted to phone the suspect but to no avail.

When the suspect did not answer his cellphone, the complainant decided to call the suspect’s brother to ask about his whereabouts.

The brother was also in the dark.

Mthethwa said the complainant contacted his car tracker and was told that his car was in Mozambique.

Mthethwa said no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
