Foundation revives school sports in Leandra

Chief Ampie Mayisa (red) beat Vukuqhakaze Secondary School (green and whiteS during the Masilela Foundation Schools Tournament in Leandra.

The Masilela foundation in Leandra held a school sports tournament at the eHlazweni sport grounds on Saturday, March 4, where different schools competed in different sports codes.

That included soccer and netball.

Chief Ampie Mayisa Secondary School’s women’s team became the overall winners when they beat Vukuqhakaze Secondary School by 7–1.

According to Sifiso Masilela, the foundation chairperson, their intention was to revive the school sports in Leandra because many young people are turning to drugs due to the lack of sports activities in their area.
