Law enforcement agencies act swiftly after ATM robbery in Standerton

According to a statement by Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, MPU spokesperson, the man was found with more than R100 000 in his possession, as well as a gun.

An officer from Kasselman Security Services (KSS), in partnership with Standerton Police, apprehended a suspect (34) on April 2, found with a huge amount of money in his possession.

This follows an ATM robbery at Capitec at a shopping centre in Standerton.

Reports indicated that a group of about five suspects allegedly went to an ATM in a purple VW Polo.

According to the statement, they allegedly gained access to where the money was and allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash from the ATM.

An alarm was activated which notified the security company, who in turn alerted Standerton SAPS.

Four suspects managed to flee, but one was cornered after law enforcement agencies collaborated their resources.

He was charged with burglary as well as possession of suspected stolen property. He is expected to soon appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court.

SAPS management welcomed the arrest as well as the recovery of the cash.
