Alleged addict shot dead at community hall in eMbalenhle

Mthethwa said on the police arrival in hospital, they found a body of a man with 8 bullet wounds and was declared dead.

The police in eMbalenhle opened a murder case after an alleged drug addict was shot eight times at the Sijongile Ndamase Community Hall on the morning of June 5.

According to Constable Busi Mthethwa, police were notified by the Evander Hospital about a man that died from gunshots.

Mthethwa said the police found a body of a man at Evander Hospital with eight bullet wounds. He was declared dead.

No arrests have been made.

It is rumoured that the community hall has turned into a drug house where even dealers trade without fear of the police.

Residents from the township it seems are too scared to even pass by the hall.

The Govan Mbeki Municipality Art and Culture Forum and the community joined hands earlier this year in a campaign to clean up the vandalised hall. Yet, due to the lack of support from the municipality, the group lost hope and gave up their efforts.
