Arrests follow robbery at store in Standerton CBD

According to the store manager, the suspect threw a pink Nike bag at her and demanded she emptied the cellphones in the cabinet into the bag.

Robbers targeted a national retail store on Charl Cilliers Street in the CBD on June 12 at about 08:45.
An earlier robbery at a store next door took place on April 4.

According to the Standerton SAPS, four suspects entered the shop. One pointed a firearm at the cashier and demanded the money in the tills.

Another suspect entered the office of manager Mathapelo Swali Mollo, pointed a firearm at her, and demanded the keys to the cellphone cabinet and the kiosk.

The other suspect entered the storeroom while the fourth guarded the door. According to the manager, the suspect threw a pink Nike bag at her and demanded she empty all the cellphones from the cabinet into the bag.

He wore black trousers, a navy jacket and black Nike sneakers.

The suspect, who demanded cash from the tills, wore a green jacket, khaki trousers and brown sneakers.

According to the police, the amount of cash and cellphones stolen was unknown. The estimated value is R200 000.

According to information, the SAPS recovered two firearms, arrested two suspects and recovered a Toyota Carolla with registration number KT 87 WM GP.

Kasselman Security Services (KSS) indicated this past week that the vehicle was heading toward Balfour. According to KSS, a shoot-out occurred. A firearm was recovered in Greylingstad.

KSS said the police in Balfour arrested the third suspect.

Jannie Kasselman of KSS said it was good teamwork by the SAPS, private security, farmers and the community.

The police opened a business robbery case.
