Phumulani Maphumulo won a bronze medal at the African Continental Wrestling Championship in Tunisia last month.

This 17-year-old from Bethal was among only 10 wrestlers from SA to compete.

Phumulani is a reigning SA champion in the Greco-Roman style in his age group after winning gold at the SA Championship in 2021 and last year.

He qualified to compete in Tunisia under the auspices of United World Wrestling.

His father, Jerry Maphumulo, thanked all who had supported his son financially for his trip and added that he needed a long-term sponsor to take care of his travel and sundry expenses.

Anyone who wants to help can contact Jerry on 082 366 0256 or Phumlani’s coach, Theuns Nel, on 082 773 5096.
