LCUC unable to collect refuse after accident in Standerton

They cannot collect refuse until the vehicle has been repaired, or they have reached an alternative solution.

The Lekwa Clean-Up Crew (LCUC) vehicle was involved in an accident on June 22.

The accident was on Secunda Road while the members were returning from the dumping site.

The vehicle collided with a Hyundai 1-Tonner truck that made a sudden stop for cattle crossing the road.

They reported no injuries. All-Star Towing removed the vehicle, and it is currently at their premises.

“We cannot provide a detailed update of the extent of the damage, as well as the cost to repair at this stage,” Jandré Kasselman said.

They cannot collect refuse until the repair of the vehicle or reached an alternative solution.

The LCUC members will still cut grass, remove posters from infrastructure and clean the areas.

“We will not load any refuse or drive it to the dumping site.”
