Trained volunteers from Standerton will lend assistance in crisis situations
Both women have joined the buurtwagpatrollie in Standerton and were recently seen with the group.
Susan Mocke and her daughter Shandré van den Heever have joined forces with EMS Chaplaincy & Trauma Support, a registered NPO founded in 2015.
The women are serving as volunteers and received training to a professional standard.
Mocke is also a deputy regional commander in the structure of the entire Mpumalanga.
According to the profile of the NPC, they aim to assist primary and secondary victims of accidents, crimes, natural disasters, and trauma scenes in dealing with the situation.
This can include:
• On-scene support;
• Debriefing and post-scene referrals to professional service providers for treatment;
• Ensuring the confidentiality of the victim’s situation; and
• Response to critical incidents, death notifications, crisis intervention, pastoral counselling, pastoral crisis intervention, biblical instruction, family support, funerals, memorials, weddings, benedictions and invocation.
Mocke and Van den Heever joined the NPO in November last year, and although not registered counsellors, they refer victims to professionals.
“We need volunteers from the community to come on board,” Mocke said.
Challenges are undoubtedly the requisite to be available at all times. Both women have joined the buurtwagpatrollie in Standerton and were recently seen with the group.
