Bronkhorstspruit residents help clean their town
The Team-up to Clean-up project involved residents and businesses
The community took to the streets in a Team-up to Clean-up project and cleaned Bronkhorstspruit on September 13.
Vasti Mills said this was the first of many clean-ups planned for Bronkhorstspruit. About 150 people were involved.
The businesses that joined in were JVR, Arengo Plastics, SPAR, Big Rock Engineering, Libanon Feeds, Cybercafe, Détendre Spa, Lovell Industries & Oxbow Country Estate, Mr Parts, Ndebele, Realnet, RMC, Rock Group, RSP Processing, Southern Services, Thandanani Care, Nedmed Arrie Nel and ZS Grain.
The City of Tshwane municipal workers in Bronkhorstspruit also participated.
Businesses donated tools and equipment such as gloves, garbage pickers, refuse bags, rakes, brush cutters, trim line brush cutters, wheelbarrows, square-nose shovels, brooms and reflector jackets.
The cleaning efforts saw tons of sand removed from the streets. Cube skips were placed in town for monthly clean-ups.
Trucks drove around town and collected all the full refuse bags and took them to the dumping site. A telescopic loader drove through Bronkhorstspruit and collected rocks and stones on the streets.
Kyle Lovell, the organiser, said the group achieved much more than they had anticipated.
“Together, we can create the positive difference our town and country needs,” said Lovell.
Resident Sonja Smit said in a letter to Streek News that she was thankful for the initiative.
“Thank you to those who cleaned up the streets and the organisers. You all deserve medals.”
