Sasol honours World Clean-Up Day in eMbalenhle
World Clean-Up Day is an annual global social action programme aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including marine debris.
Sasol teamed up with community organisations and local businesses from eMbalenhle to Evander to celebrate World Clean-Up Day on September 15.

The global organisation Let’s Do It! World coordinated it. It is observed globally on September 16 as an initiative to remove litter from public spaces one piece at a time.
Sasol collected waste and cleaned public spaces in eMbalenhle and Evander through its Sasol for Good programme, which encourages employees to be volunteers and stakeholders to give back to the communities.
According to Nomia Machebe, Sasol’s manager of media and communications, the call to action aligned with the World Clean-Up Day theme, Let’s Do It! World.
In eMbalenhle, volunteers picked up garbage on Roodebank Road, while in Evander, the clean-up was at the taxi rank and around TP Stratten Primary School.
“World Clean-Up Day is a civic-led movement dedicated to uniting people across 120 countries to clean up waste, raise awareness and implement change to achieve a clean and healthy environment,” said Machebe.
