Volunteers wash rescued horses at Wetnose outside Bronkhorstspruit
The organisation rescued these animals off a ranch in the area, where the owners used the horses for cowboy events and outrides.
Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre held a wash-and-braai day on September 23 just outside Bronkhorstspruit to raise funds for the 24 horses they recently rescued.
The organisation rescued these animals off a ranch in the area, where the owners used the horses for cowboy events and outrides.
When Wetnose stepped in, they found 24 starving and severely neglected horses. A pregnant bay mare was so weak that she could not stand up.
She lost her foal.
About 40 volunteers arrived at the shelter to help care for the horses on Saturday.
Wetnose also received donations from almost everyone who came to show support.
They held a braai afterwards.
