Women from Standerton knit beanies for cancer patients
The women are taught, among other things, to crochet, knit, embroider and do simple patchwork, and can take their products home.
The women’s group of the SAVF on Schwickard Street, Standerton, meet every Thursday from 09:30 to 11:30 for skills training.

According to the SAVF, the women are proud of their accomplishments.
Volunteer Elna Timmerman suggested they give back to the community, and since October is Breast Cancer Month, they began knitting beanies.
Between 25 to 37 women regularly attend these meetings.
Altogether, they will donate 200 beanies to Renette de Sousa, who works as a volunteer for the Cancer Association, on November 2.
