Mashudu Ndou, vice president of the Sasol corporate and community affairs, said the tournament aimed to drive social cohesion through sport.
Sasol launched a soccer and netball tournament in eMbalenhle on November 28 at the eMbalenhle Sasol Club.
Mashudu Ndou, vice president of Sasol corporate and community affairs, said the tournament aimed at driving social cohesion through sport.
Ndou said the tournament scheduled for December 9 will see teams compete in a knock-off challenge that will create a stage for local talent to showcase their skills and prepare teams for high-level championships.
“We are partnering with the South African Football Association and the Gert Sibande Municipality to make the tournament a success. The soccer leg of the tournament for U13s and senior teams will be divided into categories for women and men.”
A similar tournament will be staged in Wentworth, Durban, on December 2, in what is expected to be a fun-filled family event as communities prepare for the festive season.
The upcoming events form part of Sasol’s commitment to uplifting communities and fostering social cohesion.
“Over the years, Sasol has sponsored various sporting activities at the grassroots level, such as providing training equipment to teams and upgrading playing fields in schools,“ Ndou.
