NPO animal shelter at Evander undergoes makeover
Urgent help is needed for the revamping of the new NPO premises that has taken the place of the SPCA.
It is full steam ahead with the renovation and registering as an NPO of the shelter that will replace the old Highveld Ridge SPCA.
The HRSPCA has since vacated the premises after receiving an eviction notice to vacate by property owner Jan Beselaar of RickyB.
This was because of the traumatic way the NSPCA swooped in late last year and again in February. They euthanised animals at the HRSPCA, which was traumatic for the staff.
Beselaar wants to continue with the animal shelter and assist the committee to continue the work and effort they do, however not under the SPCA banner.

Since the last publication, “RickyB to the rescue of animals in the Secunda area” dated March 8, work has been in progress for the new NPO that will occupy these premises.
“Together with the amazing volunteers, we have started with spring cleaning and painting of what was the old SPCA,” said Jennifer-Lee Viljoen.
She said that RickyB sponsored paint and tools, and Imvubu is assisting with labour for the restoration and maintenance of the old buildings.
“The new NPO is in the process of registration. We will make this public when everything is in place and share our future plans,” said Viljoen.
Viljoen is calling out to local businesses to help with the revamping project.
