Standerton’s Nelson Mandela Drive soon to be upgraded
“It is part of our main objective to restore the dignity of our town,” Thabethe said.
Lekwa Mayor Delani Louis Thabethe recently welcomed Sanral’s contractor, who is beginning to resurface Nelson Mandela Drive in Standerton.
The Minister of Transport, Sindisiwe Chikunga, officially gazetted this road on November 10 last year, declaring it a national road and handing it over to Sanral.
The work’s completion is expected in the first week of April.
Partnerships among the Minister of Transport, Sanral, the provincial Department of Public Works and the Lekwa Municipality will ensure other roads are upgraded.
“It is part of our main objective to restore the dignity of our town,” Thabethe said.
