A remembrance day for Operation Reindeer was held at the Mukumbura Shellhole in Secunda on May 4.
Family, friends and veterans gathered at Mukumbura Shellhole in Secunda on May 4 to pay their respects to the veterans who fought in the 1978 Operation Reindeer.
Operation Reindeer was South Africa’s second major military operation in Angola, carried out under the Apartheid regime. The first operation was Operation Savannah.
Colonel Jan Breytenbach led as the commander for the battle of Cassinga, which left one man missing in action, three killed and around 30 wounded.
