A motorist died this afternoon in Bethal on the road to Kriel when his vehicle collided head-on with a bus of Hoërskool Hoogenhout.

The motorist allegedly overtook another vehicle but then collided with the oncoming bus.

The bus was empty when the accident happened at about 14:06 near Jim van Tonder School.
