Acrobats from Standerton qualify for SA champs

The championship will take place in Linden, Johannesburg from July 14 to 19.

More than 20 young acrobats from Marilize Roelofse Acrobatic Studio have qualified to represent Mpumalanga at the South African National Acrobatics Championship.

The championship will take place in Linden, Johannesburg from July 14 to 19. According to Marilize Roelofse, owner of the studio, the 22 acrobats displayed great dedication, technique and focus.

“The national championship is the pinnacle of competitive acrobatics in South Africa, drawing elite athletes from across the country,” explained Roelofse.

She said these acrobats enjoyed the chance to showcase their skills and represent their respective communities. The acrobats are training hard for this national competition.

Miané Beneke, Heike Botha, Leandri Dietrichsen and Mikayla Jacobs will compete at Level One. Marlé Mouton, Ghitte Botha, Zaanri Blignaut, Kaitlyn Coetzer, and Ziané Wasserman will compete at Level Two.

Ria-Nise Meyer and Mariori Oelofsen will compete at Level Three. Phiwokuhle Zulu will compete at Level Four and Alexia Lourens will compete at Level Five.

Taylor Draper, Olwethu Khanye, and Mieke Norman will compete at Level Six. Leila van der Merwe, Jyoti Daya and Miekela Matthee will compete at Level Seven.

Suné du Preez will compete at Level Eight. Mieke Swart will compete in the Advanced Elite category.
