Exciting new cricket tournament kicks off in Secunda

The teams that will take part in this tournament are the Serval Cats, the Sables, the Highveld Bulls and the Buffalo’s.

The Super Slam Cricket Tournament will kick off in Secunda in October for the senior men from Mpumalanga, with the drafting of players to the various teams already happening this weekend.

The tournament for U11 and U13 cricket players is on the books for March.

The Secunda Cricket Club is organising this exciting new tournament in association with the Mpumalanga Cricket Union.

The organiser of the tournament, Ignus Koekemoer, said the Super Slam is not just a contest of cricketing talent, but rather a celebration of purpose, pride and preservation.

“With this tournament, we aim to unite sport with social and environmental responsibility,” said Koekemoer.

“At the heart of the Super Slam is the belief that cricket can do more than entertain, it can inspire, educate and uplift.”

The mission of this tournament is to raise money to grow junior club cricket and women’s club cricket in Mpumalanga.

The organisers of this Super Slam Cricket Tournament invited all cricket players, fans and sponsors to become part of this initiative and be part of a movement where every run, wicket and win contributes to developing the game and the community.

The organisers are planning on adding tournaments for U15 cricket players and U19 cricket players, as well as girls next year.

The teams that will take part in this tournament are the Serval Cats, the Sables, the Highveld Bulls and the Buffalo’s.

There are various options available to sponsor this tournament and these options include the title sponsor, a main sponsor, a team sponsor, a tournament sponsor and legacy award sponsorships which also include several different options.

The player draft for the senior men will take place on August 9 at the Secunda Cricket Club where the players will be selected to the various teams.

This process will be broadcasted live on the Ridge Times Facebook page.

Koekemoer invited the U11 and U13 cricket players to register now by visiting Secunda Cricket Club’s official website, https://www.secundacricketclub.co.za/super-slam/.
